{"id":1822,"date":"2025-03-26T16:25:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-26T16:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/summitdemsdev.oxbowserver.com\/?p=1822"},"modified":"2026-03-23T16:27:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T16:27:38","slug":"focus-on-what-moves-us-forward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/summitdemsdev.oxbowserver.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/26\/focus-on-what-moves-us-forward\/","title":{"rendered":"Focus on What Moves Us Forward"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Friends, I read recently that we are surrounded by more speech than at any other time in our history as humans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every medium seems to be more outrage-driven than ever, generating clicks, shares, and, well, more outrage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not one-sided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There are posts of protests and rallies filled with outrage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Folks are fired up because Elon and crew are gutting public education \u2013 <em>of course, they are!\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And depending on where you get your news, it\u2019s either a fight to save the soul of our democracy or cancel culture trying to stop progress.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Either way, there is monetized outrage filling everyone\u2019s inboxes, feeds, and televisions with no end in sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Your Summit County Democratic Party is focused on our candidates.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of fueling the fires of outrage, we want to highlight the positive work being done in our cities and county government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want you to see the success of some amazing specialty programs in our courts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want you to know about a Sheriff using new innovations during people\u2019s worst days for better outcomes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are excited to share stories so you can share them with your neighbors, families and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We are not ignoring the severity of our current reality \u2013 <\/strong><strong><em>we are angry too!&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where and how we focus our energy over the coming months will determine the outcome of <strong>more than 100 races<\/strong> right here in Summit County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m looking forward to another campaign season with all of you, the best Democrats anywhere!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Together, we will continue to move Summit County forward.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark Derrig,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Summit County Democratic Party Chair<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Friends, I read recently that we are surrounded by more speech than at any other time in our history as humans.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1822","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
